Gervase Cary Elwes

(15th November 1866 – 12th January 1921)

He was always known as Gervase Elwes. He was an English tenor of great distinction, who exercised a powerful influence over the development of English music.
Since his death many musical awards, cups and trophies have been given his name and The Musicians' Benevolent Fund was established in his memory.
